In honor of the 4th of July, let's look at the most LEGENDARY American athletes of all time, because "Heroes get remembered, but Legends never die"...

If you want to hear me explain my list of the 10 Most Legendary Athletes in American History just watch the YouTube Video below.

First and foremost, dictionary.com, the definition of Legendary as "celebrated or described in legend" and that seems extremely fitting for the 10 Athletes I have decided are the MOST Legendary Athletes in America's history.

10. Joey Chestnut - He is the king of eating, and nothing is more American or Legendary than that.

9. Dale Earnhardt - His nickname is "the Intimidator" No one won more, or drove with more passion and intensity. His death at Dayton cemented his place among the legends.

8. Babe Ruth - The Sultan of Swat, The Great Bambino, The Colossus of Clout, The King of Crash, The King of Swing, The Titan of Terror, the list goes on, and on, and on...

7. Jesse Owens - Defeated Hitler's guys in front of Hitler's Face, in Hitler's home...LEGEND

6. Tiger Woods - The greatest golfer ever, changed the game, had a meteoric rise, a tremendous fall from grace, and a brilliant moment to get back on top, a truly American story.

5. Jackie Robinson - Broke the color barrier and went on to win Rookie of the Year. There is a reason why no baseball player is allowed to wear #42.

4. Muhammad Ali - Nicknamed "The Greatest" and he was. The first great athlete on the microphone, and was willing to take up any fight in the ring, and politically outside of the ring as well.

3. Michael Phelps - The most decorated Olympic Athlete EVER, 28 medals, 23 of them GOLD.

2. Tom Brady - The greatest football player ever. 7 Super Bowls, and every major passing record.

1. Michael Jordan.

Honorable Mention - Simone Biles (she will pass Joey Chestnut on this list if she wins gold in Paris), Serena Williams, LeBron James, Willie Mays, Patrick Mahomes, Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Peyton Manning, Patrick Kane, and Hulk Hogan.
