The conventional  thinking that the states with the largest obesity problem are found in the South is challenged in this study published from where else...the South.

According to a study from the University of Alabama-Birmingham , Missouri is the most obese state in the nation.
The study reports the obesity rate in Missouri jumped from 17th place in the previous year to the top spot.  It states 42-percent of Missouri residents are obese.
The Centers for Disease Control says health care costs will become a greater issue for the "Show Me" state.
