Sodalis Nature Preserve

Due to the threat of stormy weather Friday night, the Night Hike scheduled at the Sodalis Nature Preserve for Friday and been pushed back a day.

On Friday October 27th employee volunteers from the Hannibal Board of Public Works braved the cold weather and spent the day collecting trash throughout Sodalis Nature Reserve and Bear Creek that runs through the park.

The Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department has learned that it will be getting a federal grant to expand the walking trails in the Sodalis Nature Preserve.

The results of the latest bat census in Hannibal’s Sodalis Nature Preserve are in. In a press release from the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department,

Bat enthusiasts from all over the country are in Hannibal this weekend for the dedication of what has become the city’s second largest park.

The paving of the main trail and parking lot in Hannibal Sodalis Nature Preserve is complete, creating an almost two-mile loop through the park.

It was an emotional moment in Hannibal City Council chambers Tuesday evening.

The team responsible for the newest addition to Hannibal's parks system received an award at a recent Missouri Department of Conservation conference.

The Hannibal City Council takes the next step toward creating the second largest park in the city’s history.
