Unlike some modern school curriculums, not everyone gets a prize when it comes to hospitals and safety. That's why it's great news that a newly-updated national ranking has given 14 Missouri hospitals a stellar A rating for patient safety.

I can count on one hand the number of times in my life when I aced a test. For 24 Illinois hospitals, that's no big deal as the numbers of medical facilities given perfect 'A' grades for patient safety has now increased.

It should not be surprising to know that I was given one 'D' grade when I was in high school. I blame physics since I don't understand them. But, that's one reason why I feel qualified to be the messenger about a newly updating ranking of Illinois hospitals that now shows 15 have the lowest 'D' rating.

A few weeks ago, I shared data from the last complete year which revealed only 2 Missouri hospitals received a 'D' rating for patient safety. Brand new data for Spring of 2024 has now been released and it shows that now a half dozen Missouri hospitals have fallen to that nearly bottom category.

It's impossible to be perfect (or so I'm told). But 13 Missouri hospitals just learned they have received a near perfect 'A' grade when it comes to patient safety.

I did so poorly in school that I needed someone to explain to me exactly what it means to get an 'A' grade. That's exactly what's just happened for 22 Illinois hospitals who just received the highest grade possible when it comes to how they provide safety for their patients.

As I recall from my educational years, 'D' is a passing grade, but just barely. That's the grade that 8 Illinois hospitals just received as they were ranked for patient safety.

When it comes to hospital safety, you definitely want a passing grade. For 2 Missouri hospitals, they received 'D' ratings in a new ranking of all the health facilities in the state.

There is a good reason why medical facilities are held to the highest standards. They are literally the difference between life and death for many. That's why the new ranking of the 10 hospitals in Illinois that are the absolute best is important.
