If you thought the worst part of winter was over, you may want to brace yourself as arctic air is about to blast Missouri soon and it may bring big snow with it.
Missouri has had a very nice respite from bitterly cold temperatures and it looks like it will stay that way for awhile. But, an upcoming split of a polar airmass will almost certainly mean that cold is about to return to Missouri with a vengeance.
Illinois is about to enter what will hopefully be the coldest part of winter over the next few days as the National Weather Service is warning of incoming wind chills that could reach 30 below zero.
Your furnace and/or your space heater is about to become your best friend and ally as the most widespread cold in a decade is about to descend on Missouri and it likely won't end quickly either.
Once the calendar turns to 2025, it will feel like someone flicked a switch in Missouri and turned on brutal cold. There is now belief that the coldest air in decades could bring unusual snowstorms to Missouri, too.
