Sangamon County authorities have charged a 20-year-old Springfield man in the stabbing of his stepfather.

The State Journal-Register reports Robert Hunt was charged Wednesday with attempted first-degree murder. A judge ordered him held on $500,000 bond and said he could not have any contact with his stepfather, 33-year-old Shane Reid.

A 17-year-old boy is still wanted by police on an attempted murder charge. The two also face home invasion and aggravated battery charged.

Police say Reid was asleep Friday night when Hunt and the teen entered the home. They say they punched him several times in the face and stabbed him an unknown number of times.

Reid's injuries weren't life-threatening. He says Hunt has threatened to kill him.

Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
