Officials in western Illinois say a 67-year-old woman was killed when bullets were fired into her home outside Nauvoo.

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger says the victim was Nanci Culp. She died Thursday morning. The sheriff tells The Quincy Herald-Whig that investigators found Culp's home was shot several times.

An autopsy was scheduled Friday. Bentzinger says Illinois State Police also were investigating the death.

Authorities say a suspect is in custody but no charges have been filed.

Nauvoo is on the Mississippi River about 50 miles north of Quincy.
