Swollen rivers are forcing officials to close some area roadways:

The Mo Dept. of Transportation says in Clark County,  US 136 at the Mississippi River and US 61 near Alexandria in Clark County at the Des Moines River are closed due to flooding. .

Business 61 South in Lewis County, just north of Canton is closed.  Also Lewis County Route B closed in Canton.  Flood gates have been installed.  MODot says road is closed now from Hwy 61 and B in Canton to La Grange Bus.61 and  B.

MO 79 in Pike County at Louisiana …HWY 79 is closed  from DELAWARE TO N. CAROLINA Streets.  Pike County, Mo.  Route P  is closed east of the Levee.

Further south in Clarksville, Governor Nixon is sending 50 Department of Corrections offenders to assist in sandbagging along the flooding Mississippi in the downtown area.

Officials are closely watching the Quincy Memorial Bridge as the Mississippi rises.  According to the City of Quincy website Saturday morning, IDOT was planning to close the bridge sometime Saturday and reroute traffic onto the Bayview Bridge. No specific time was announced.  Now several media reports have surfaced stating the closure has been postponed.
