The completion of the street and sidewalk project in Hannibal’s downtown historic district was made official Friday afternoon.

City officials, downtown merchants and other dignitaries gathered for a ribbon cutting at Main and Broadway.

Brian Chaplin was the project manager for the project. He said working with contractors and merchants to minimize the inconvenience during construction was key to the successful completion of the work.

Chaplin said that, all things considered, the project went fairly smoothly…

The project included resurfacing of the streets, reconstruction of the sidewalks and crosswalks on Main Street from North to Broadway and took about a year-and-a-half to complete.
