The latest casualty of Illinois’ budget mess is Quincy University.

QU administrators Thursday announced the school’s academic and administrative restructuring plan, effective with the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

The changes became necessary as the school awaits a $1.2 million dollar MAP grant from the State of Illinois that is held up by the continuing budget battle in Springfield.

The QU Board of Trustees approved a plan to cut $1.75 million dollars from the school’s operating budget for next fiscal year, about a seven percent cut from a year ago.

The cuts include seven full time positions and 20 low-enrolled course sections.

There will also be consolidations in the Departments of Academic Affairs and Student Engagement.
