Quincy Police warn of a possible telephone scam.
A caller to the police department said she received a call identified by caller I-D as ‘City of Quincy’. She noticed that the caller had a middle eastern accent and said he was with the police department. She provided no information and hung up the phone. Police say that with current technology it is easy to spoof caller I-D. If you receive a call from Quincy Police you feel is suspicious ask for a name and badge number. Once you have that information tell the caller you will call back. Do not push redial. Dial the department’s main number at 228-4470. That ensures you are connected to Quincy Police and not someone involved in fraudulent activity.
