Quincy Police Warn of ‘Injured Family Member’ Phone Scam

Quincy Police have gotten calls recently about a phone scam that has been around for a while and has made its way back to the area.

Officers say the scam begins when people are called by someone saying a family member has been injured or in an accident while out of town or even out of the country. They will be asked to send money to someone so they can help the family member. Then someone will get on the phone posing as the family member to confirm the story.

Quincy Police say that if you get such a call, you are urged to contact that family member or another family member to confirm the story.
