Quincy Police are advising the public of a scam that’s not new, but doesn’t seem to be going away.

QPD says that, while they have issued advisories recently on a Social Security scam, they are still receiving calls from the public.

The phone scam consists of an automated call from the Social Security Administration, threatening to suspend your Social Security number for alleged illegal activity or an unpaid tax bill. There are also instructions to call back and give more information.

Quincy Police advise that this is a scam and if you get one of these calls, you should hang up and do not call back to give more information.
