During the overnight hours, Sunday night into early Monday morning, Quincy Police responded to 2 separate reports of a large group (20 to 30) of people fighting in the area of 8th Street, York to Kentucky. During the initial call, officers did not locate any problem. During the second call, officers found several subjects in the area, but were told that there was not a disturbance.

At about 4:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Blessing Hospital Emergency Room for a stabbing victim. When they arrived, they found a 20 year old Quincy man being treated for a non life threatening stab wound to his back and several abrasions on his face. The victim told police that he had received the injury during an altercation in the area of 8th and York. The victim described the suspect as being a black male who was wearing a "money" shirt and who has a cross tattoo on his face.

The investigation is ongoing.
