A rainy weather forecast notwithstanding, Quincy is geared up for its annual Dogwood Festival.

The festival officially kicks off Thursday, April 28 with the Little King and Queen of Dogwood pageants at the Quincy Mall at 7 p.m.

Friday features a concert featuring Avenue Beat in the First Mid-Illinois Bank Plaza from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The festival begins in earnest Saturday, with Breakfast on the Lawn at First Christian Church at 8:30 a.m., rides, food and crafts in Washington Park from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the parade at 9:30 a.m., entertainment downtown from noon to 3 p.m., a concert in Washington Theater from noon to 4 p.m., the District Dogwood Street Concert at 6 p.m., with the ABWA's Dogwood Dance at the Elks Club also starting at 6.

Sunday's activities include rides, food and crafts in Washington Park from noon to 4 p.m., entertainment downtown from 1 to 3, a log cabins open house on Quinsippi Island from 1 to 4, the Quincy Preserves Spring Tour from 1 to 5, the All Faiths Celebration in Clat Adams Park at 3 p.m., with a concert featuring Quincy University's Hawk Express Jazz Band on QU's North Campus, also at 3 p.m.
