Quincy City Council Okays Permit for New Nightclub

The Quincy City Council Monday night changed its mind and approved a permit for a new nightclub in the downtown area.

A month ago, the council had rejected a request for a nightclub permit at the location of the former Irene’s Cabaret at 124 North 5th.

Since that vote, Alderman Jack Holtschlag met with the owners and Monday night asked that his previous no vote be stricken and that the council issue the permit.

The new owners of the property are in the process of making repairs to the building and hope to have the new nightclub open to the public by the end of the year.
