The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce will again offer a $10,000 prize to the winner of its Business Plan Competition in 2013. All for-profit businesses in any field, including start-up companies as well as expansions of existing companies, are eligible to compete.

There is no cost to participate in the competition. Each contestant must submit an entry form by April 1, 2013, and the first draft of their Business Plan to the Chamber by June 14.  A selection committee will review the plans, and up to five business plans will be invited to submit final drafts and make oral presentations in the final round. Judging will be based on concept and innovation, viability, economic impact and the oral presentation.

The Chamber initiated this competition last year, in recognition of its 125th anniversary, to foster new business initiatives as well as business expansions in Adams County. Joined by an anonymous donor who contributed an additional $10,000, the Chamber in November 2012 named Golden Bridges, a service oriented company that coordinates various aspects of moving for seniors, and Gem City Coffee, a coffee-roasting company, as its winners. Each is eligible to receive $10,000 to assist with the opening of their businesses in 2013.

Packets of information about the competition are available at the Chamber office in the Oakley Lindsay Center during normal business hours. Information is also available at www.quincychamber.org.
