No high school senior ever thought that their last year of high school would turn out like it has. Quincy Senior High School has been asked over the last few weeks what they plan is for graduation, and there's not one plan, but two.

The only day any senior looks forward to is graduation, and with schools closed for the year, many are trying to figure out what to do with graduation. Last night, Quincy Public Schools Superintendent Roy Webb, laid on two plans of action for graduation depending on what the governor does about social distancing.

The first plan is to hold a virtual graduation ceremony on the original graduation date of May 22nd. The ceremony will start at 5:00 pm and would be livestreamed on QPS' website, KHQA, and WGEM websites, with other platforms to be announced later. The ceremony would be held at the QHS Theatre, with recorded music from the QHS Orchestra, recorded speeches from the Valedictorian, Salutatorian, Student Council President, and Senior Class President. Plus, traditional remarks by the QHS Principal, QPS Superintendent, and School Board President, with the names of each graduate read aloud accompanied by a picture

Option two, again all depending on what the governor decides on social distancing, would be a traditional ceremony on June 27th and possibly split ceremonies. The ceremony would start at 10 am at Baldwin Gymnasium, with each graduate being limited to two tickets only. Now, if social distancing prohibits large gatherings then a stage would be set up in front of Quincy Senior High School, with each graduate staying in their cars, driving up to walk across the stage, receive their diploma, and have a photo taken, which will also take place on June 27th.

Obviously, this is not what any senior wants, but I am so happy that the school administration has put together a few plans to ensure that each graduate is honored for their hard work.
