If you have ever been fascinated with police work then you need to sign up for the next Citizen Police Academy Class held by the Quincy Police Department.  As a graduate of a previous class, I can tell you it will be the fastest 10 weeks of your life.

The Quincy Police Department is currently taking applications for the spring 2013 Citizen Police Academy class.  This class, which is 10 weeks in length, begins on Thursday, February 28, 2013.  The class time is 6:00-9:00 p.m. and most classes are held at Quincy City Hall.  There is NO charge to attend.

During this class, participants will not only learn about all aspects of the Quincy Police Department, but will also have an opportunity to participate hands on activities.  Some of the class topics include, Street Crimes Unit, DUI practical and mock vehicle stops, gangs, Emergency Response Team, crime scene investigation, and drug enforcement, just to name a few.

There is also an optional range day at PASA Park and class participants can ride along with a QPD officer. To be eligible for the course, applicants must live in Quincy, work in Quincy, or own property in Quincy.  Applicants must also be at least 18 years of age.
