(EAST HANNIBAL)—A family swimming at the John Hay Public Use Area in East Hannibal reports finding what are believed to be human remains Tuesday.

Kenny Owens says he found what looks like and upper and lower jaw bone and some teeth. Pike County, Illinois Sheriff’s deputies collected the bones from Owens.

Bones later determined to be remains of native Americans from hundreds of years ago were found nearby on September 11, 2011.
