Police have arrested a Warren County man who they say bound his girlfriend with duct tape and struck her about 40 times.

The 31-year-old man was arrested after the woman showed up at the Wright City fire station on Monday with injuries to her face, shoulders, arms and hands. Police say her eyes were swollen shut. The man faces charges of first-degree domestic assault.

The woman says her boyfriend wrapped the tape around her neck to restrain her and repeatedly kicked and punched her. She says he threatened to kill her.

She was treated at an area hospital for her injuries.

Police say the man admitted to assaulting the woman but denied she was his girlfriend.
