Youngsters who fancy themselves sidewalk artists get a chance to show their stuff at Clemens Field Monday, July 21.

According to a news release from the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department, they are one of the sponsors of a chalk art contest at the entrance to the ballpark.

The contest is part of Missouri Operation Lifesaver Night at Clemens Field. Missouri Operation Lifesaver is an organization that works to raise awareness of dangers around the rails as they seek to educate drivers and pedestrians about making safe decisions at crossing and around railroad tracks.

Kids taking part in the chalk art contest are asked to draw a picture or message that depicts the Operation Lifesaver message.

Warm-up jerseys will be awarded the winners in three age groups: ages 3-6, 7-10 and 11-14.

Gates open at 5 p.m. The Cavemen play the Quincy Gems at 7:05 p.m.

Joining Parks & Rec as sponsors for the event are Missouri Operation Lifesaver, the Hannibal Cavemen and the Hannibal Arts Council.
