Columbia, Missouri is the lone representative for the Show-Me State on the Best Places to Live in the US in 2022, published on livability.com. Columbia barely makes it onto the list coming in at 97th with a livability score of 597, compared to the number 1 ranked city Madison, Wisconsin which has a livability score of 725. On the site they say...

"This year, we focused on mid-sized cities (generally defined as 500,000 population or smaller) that are attracting big waves of young people. We also added more weight to some of our measures of diversity and inclusion in order to reflect what millennials are looking for in the cities they choose to call home."

So why does Columbia make the list? They say this about Columbia...

"The progressive city of Columbia, MO, has a rich history and vibrant future. With tons of entertainment options, a diverse economy and a low cost of living, it’s no wonder COMO has been consistently ranked one of the best places to live in the U.S."

And they go on to mention how having a great university in town adds to the charm of living in Columbia. To see the entire list for yourself click here!

I love Columbia, Missouri, personally, I think it should be much higher on the list. This list does include a bunch of towns that I think are great, and it is true that mid-sized cities are really having a moment right now. People my age (millennials) want city amenities like fests, apartments, nightlife, and restaurants without the crime and costs of the major cities.
