(Pittsfield, Ill)--Officers on both sides of the river will be out in force this weekend targeting impaired drivers and boaters.  Officials say drunk boating is just as serious as drunk driving.

Illinois State Police Dist. 20 officers say the Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest on area highways, and troopers will be saturating area roadways looking for dangerous and impaired drivers.  Operation Fatal 4 will emphasize the four most common traffic violations: Speeding, DUI, seat belts, and distracted driving.  Troopers will focus their efforts on Interstates 72 and 172.  Officers will be available to render roadside assistance to stranded motorists as well.

Troopers report District 20 has recorded no fatalities over the Labor Day Weekend for 5 years running in the counties of Adams, Brown, Pike and Scott. The goal is to continue that tradition.

Quincy Police report a similar emphasis will be ongoing this weekend as they participate in the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" crackdown on impaired driving.
