New London Home Destroyed by Fire

A Ralls County family is homeless after a fire destroyed their home early Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters from New London, Center, Perry and Hannibal Rural all responded to a residence on Route A west of New London just before noon Wednesday.

Fire crews initially had trouble getting to the hilltop home because of an ice covered driveway.

The family of five was not home at the time of the fire, but the family’s dog died.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
