Nearly 16% of Bank Failures in 2012 Involved Illinois Banks

The federal government says nearly 16 percent of the bank failures recorded across the country this year involved Illinois banks. In 2012, 51 banks failed, including eight in Illinois. The Illinois banks had combined assets of more than $2 billion.
