There is data compiled over the past year that shows which state you are more likely to get into a deer-related car accident in, and it's not even close.

Deer are a problem on the roadways throughout the Midwest all year long but especially in the fall and winter months, as we start this season of extra deer caution while driving, new data shows us that deer-related car accidents are a much bigger problem west of the Mississippi River.

According to an article from patch.com deer-related car accidents are almost twice as likely to happen In Missouri compared to Illinois. You have a 1 in 137 chance of getting in an animal-related car accident in the Land of Lincoln but in the Show Me State that number jumps up to a 1 in 74 chance! In the article, they go on to say that deer-related car accidents are on the rise in Illinois though...

"Your chances of hitting a deer or other animal while driving on a U.S. road jumped by more than 7 percent in the last year, State Farm found in its 19th annual animal collision study released this week."

The number is even worse in the other state in the Tri-States Iowa, where you have a 1 in 59 chance of getting in an animal-related car accident. What is the state with the highest chances of getting in an animal-related car accident? Well according to the article that is West Virginia where the number is 1 in 37 chance.
