The Missouri Supreme Court has agreed with a lower court ruling in the case of a Hannibal woman’s filing of a wrongful death suit against a local physician.

The Courier-Post reports the high court released a 6-1 decision Tuesday, saying the circuit court was correct in denying Ruth Mickels’ application to become personal representative of the estate of Joseph Mickels because the petitions should have been filed within a year of Joseph Mickels’ death in 2009.

Ruth Mickels had wanted to file a wrongful death suit against Dr. Raman Danrad, alleging that he was negligent in reviewing MRI’s of Joseph Mickels’ brain for the presence of tumors.
