Missouri is home to one of the Best Places to Beat the Heat
Summer isn't over and if you are looking for a way to beat the heat, without having to spend all day in a pool, one website says that Missouri is home to a unique place where you can always beat the heat!
According to the travel website called travelawaits.com, Missouri's Meramec Caverns make the list of the 10 Places to Visit Where You Can Always Beat the Heat. The 10 places on this list are all cave systems, and the list includes places like the Jewel Cave National Monument in South Dakota and the Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico, on the site they say this about the Meramec Caverns in Stanton, Missouri...
"Meramec Caverns is a 4.6-mile cavern system in the Ozarks. One of the rooms, only 300 feet from the entrance, is so large that it can accommodate large crowds and features a 50-by-50-foot dance floor in the center...Inside the cave, the temperature is a steady 58 degrees, which explains why local residents held “cave parties” there in the 1890s to escape from the summer heat."

I would absolutely love to attend a beat-the-heat party inside of the caverns that sounds like a blast! I honestly don't think that caves and caverns get the respect they deserve as a fun summertime activity to get away from the crazy heat. But I will say that 58 degrees also sounds pretty lovely when it is 5 degrees outside in the middle of January, so they might need to think about throwing an avoiding frostbite party in the wintertime as well!
