Two of the nation's top three teams lost on Saturday -- and the other received a serious scare. Here's a recap of the week's most interesting games:

Jarrett Stidham threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns and tenth-ranked Auburn upset No. 2 Georgia, 40-17, on Saturday. Kerryon Johnson ran for 167 yards and caught a touchdown pass for the Tigers, who dominated the Bulldogs on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Auburn (8-2, 6-1 SEC) stayed in Southeastern Conference championship and College Football Playoff contention with the big win. They have a date with top-ranked Alabama on Nov. 25.

Jake Fromm threw for 184 yards and a meaningless touchdown for Georgia (9-1, 6-1). He was sacked four times. Vaunted UGA running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel were non-factors in their team's biggest game of the season. The Tigers held the Bulldogs' running game to just 46 yards.

The Bulldogs are not out of title contention. They will face the winner of the Alabama-Auburn game in the SEC title game. It's likely that the SEC champ will make the College Football Playoff.

Miami Beat No.3 Notre Dame and Moved Up to No. 2

Travis Homer ran for 146 yards and seventh-ranked Miami forced four turnovers while demolishing third-ranked Notre Dame, 41-8, on Saturday. Quarterback Malik Rosier threw for a touchdown and ran for another score for the Hurricanes, who clinched their first trip to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game earlier in the day when Virginia lost to Louisville.

Miami (9-0, 6-0 ACC) moved up to No. 2 in the new Associated Press rankings released Sunday. They will face Clemson in Charlotte on Dec. 2 regardless of how the Hurricanes fare against UVA and Pitt the next two weeks. Clemson won the ACC Atlantic Division with a 31-14 victory over Florida State on Saturday.

The Fighting Irish trailed 27-0 at halftime and never recovered. Heisman Trophy contender Josh Adams ran for just 40 yards on 16 carries for Notre Dame (8-2).

Jalen Hurts threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith with 25 seconds to play, and Associated Press No. 1 Alabama beat No. 18 Mississippi State, 31-24, on Saturday night. The Bulldogs seemed to have the upset in reach, but they folded in the fourth quarter against the Crimson Tide.

Mississippi State (7-3, 3-3 SEC) led 24-17 early in the fourth quarter on Jace Christmann's 25-yard field goal, but Alabama (10-0, 7-0) rallied late. Damien Harris tied the game at 24 with a 14-yard touchdown run with 9:49 left.

Hurts then drove the Crimson Tide 68 yards in six plays over the last minute-plus of the game to keep 'Bama undefeated and prevent the nation's top three teams from losing in the same week for the first time since New Year's Day 1966.

Hurts finished 10 of 19 passing for 242 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Calvin Ridley had five receptions for 171 yards.

Bulldogs' quarterback Nick Fitzgerald completed 13 of 24 passes for 158 yards and he ran for 66 yards and a touchdown. Aeris Williams ran for 97 yards and two scores for MSU.

Rodney Anderson ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns and he had five receptions for 139 yards and two more scores, as fifth-ranked Oklahoma routed No. 8 TCU, 38-20, on Saturday night. With the decisive victory over the Horned Frogs, the Sooners took sole possession of the Big 12 lead with just two weeks left in the regular season.

Heisman Trophy favorite Baker Mayfield threw for 333 yards and three touchdowns for Oklahoma (9-1, 6-1 Big 12), which has won five consecutive games. The Sooners ran for 200 yards against the nation's No. 1 rushing defense.

Kenny Hill threw for 270 yards for TCU (8-2, 5-2), which trailed 38-14 at halftime. The Horned Frogs must win out to force a rematch with OU in the Big 12 title game on Dec. 2.

J.T. Barrett threw two touchdown passes and he ran for two more scores, and No. 11 Ohio State trounced No. 13 Michigan State, 48-3, on Saturday. The Buckeyes rebounded from last week's terrible loss to Iowa to give themselves a chance to get back into the conference -- and national title -- picture. They ended the day in first place in the Big Ten East and were ranked No. 8 in the new AP poll on Sunday.

Mike Weber rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns for Ohio State (8-2, 6-1 Big Ten), which led 35-3 at the half. Buckeyes running back J.K. Dobbins added 124 yards on the ground.

The Spartans could not build on last week's upset of Penn State. Michigan State (7-3, 5-2) was outgained 524-195 in the game. Spartans quarterback Brian Lewerke threw for just 131 yards with two interceptions.

• Sophomore quarterback Khalil Tate ran for 206 yards and two touchdowns on just 16 carries, and Arizona routed Oregon State, 49-28, late Saturday. Tate had more than 100 yards in the first quarter, his sixth-straight 100-yard rushing game. If Tate had been the Wildcats' starter at the beginning of the season, he'd likely be the Heisman Trophy front-runner. As it is, he may be a finalist for the award.

• On Saturday, Tennessee lost 50-17 at Missouri; on Sunday, the Volunteers fired fifth-year head coach Butch Jones. Defensive line coach Brady Hoke agreed to serve as Tennessee's interim head coach. The Vols' have yet to win an SEC game this season.

• Sixth-ranked Wisconsin stayed undefeated by beating No. 20 Iowa, 38-14, on Saturday. The Badgers clinched the Big 10 West with the victory. Wisconsin (10-0, 7-0) may be the conference's last, best hope to land a team in the College Football Playoff. They face Michigan on Saturday.

• Bryce Love ran for 166 yards and three touchdowns on a tender ankle, and Stanford upset No. 9 Washington, 30-22, on Friday night. The win got the Cardinal back in the rankings, but it will also likely keep the Huskies -- and the Pac-12 -- out of the College Football Playoff.

• Mason Rudolph threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 12 Oklahoma State beat No. 24 Iowa State, 49-42, on Saturday. The win kept the Cowboys in the Big 12 title hunt. The conference's top two teams meet in the championship game in Arlington, Texas, on Dec. 2.

• TaQuon Marshall threw two touchdown passes -- his only two completions of the game -- and unranked Georgia Tech beat No. 17 Virginia Tech, 28-22, on Saturday.
