The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers updated the camping situation at Mark Twain Lake Wednesday.

Officials say even though progress has been made to get Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds operational, the closure of those campsites has been extended to July 25th.

Any campers with reservations at either of those campgrounds beginning Monday the 19th will be given the option of a free standard electric site at Indian Creek Campground.

Camping reservations through the 25th will be accommodated on a first come first served basis due to a shortage of camp sites.

Another option is Mark Twain State Park, where limited camp sites are available.

Things are starting to get at least close to back to normal in Ralls County in general and Perry in particular.

Ralls County Sheriff Brad Stinson reports nearly all of the power is back on and fallen trees removed following last weekend’s severe storms.

Ralls County Rural Electric Cooperative reported Tuesday power had been restored to almost every member of their network. They are still getting reports of issues on a handful of meters as to whether service has been fully restored.

If you are a Ralls County Electric customer and you are still without power, you are asked to call 573-985-8711.

Officials in Perry reported Wednesday things were almost normal for city crews and volunteers.

With that, they also reminded residents that, with the restoration of power, they should not go near or handle any power lines that may still be down.

Also, the first residential trash pickup in Perry since the storm is Wednesday. This trash pickup does not include construction or storm debris.

And, 110 free BBQ meals will be served in the park in Perry at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
