The Marion County Commission is looking at ways to make a dangerous Hannibal area intersection safer.

At its regular meeting Monday, the commissioners discussed a couple of options to make the Veterans’ Road-West Ely intersection safer.

The discussion focused on making the intersection a four-way stop and/or lowering the speed limit to 35 miles per hour on Veterans’ Road between Routes MM and W.

A number of serious crashes have taken place at that intersection over the years, the latest one happening last week.

The commission tabled the discussion until October 7th to get input from local law enforcement agencies.
