Marceline Resident Arrested For Statutory Sodomy And Child Molestation

On April 15, 2014, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Damon K. Werteen, 49, of Marceline, Missouri, was arrested for felony statutory sodomy and felony child molestation. The arrest occurred at the Marceline Police Department following an investigation conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Marceline Police Department.

The alleged incidents being investigated occurred several years ago.
Werteen was transported to the Chariton County Jail on a 24-hour hold pending the issuance of an arrest warrant.

The charges for which Werteen was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
