At approximately 1:30 a.m. on December 15, 2015, a Milan, Missouri, police officer responded behind a business on Fourth Street in Milan, in reference to an assault investigation. Upon the officer’s arrival, he found a suspect asleep in a parked vehicle.

As the officer was attempting to contact the suspect he drove away through a park, and continued northbound on North Market Street. The vehicle then traveled off the roadway on East Garden Street and struck a tree and the suspect fled on foot.

At approximately 7:20 a.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department received a report of an individual matching the description of the suspect trying to enter a residence on Otter Road, in rural Sullivan County. As the sheriff arrived, the suspect again fled on foot. An extensive search of the area was conducted by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, Milan Police Department, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., a Sullivan County sheriff’s deputy observed a subject matching the description of the suspect driving a 1984 Chevrolet pickup northbound on Route OO, in Sullivan County. The deputy attempted to stop the truck and a pursuit ensued. Troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol became involved in the pursuit and after deploying spike strips, the vehicle was stopped on Maple Road, in Sullivan County.

The suspect, Jordan Scott Lochman, 30, of Florissant, Missouri, was taken into custody. The pickup Lochman was driving was determined to be stolen from an area resident in the proximity where he was initially contacted by the sheriff.

Lochman was arrested on a felony Audrain County warrant for burglary and a misdemeanor Knox County traffic warrant. He was transported to the Sullivan County Jail on a 24-hour hold pending additional charges.

The charges for which Lochman was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be present before of court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
