(LAGRANGE)—Two LaGrange residents are charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Lewis County Sheriff’s deputies say 36-year-old Joseph Budig and 38-year-old Crystal Pratt are alleged to have knowingly acted in a manner that creates a substantial risk to the life, body and health of a child under 17.

Deputies say Budig and Pratt forced the child to stand in a corner for extended periods of time and striking the child in the legs with a belt and wooden rod. The arrests follow an investigation conducted in August. LaGrange Police, the Missouri Children’s Division and Lewis County Juvenile Office assisted in the investigation.

Budig and Pratt are free on bond.
