A Museum in Illinois is being Renamed after a Billionaire

When you donate LOTS of money they rename buildings after you...We have seen a lot of iconic renamings in Illinois from the Sears Tower to the Willis Tower, and now one of our most legendary museums gets a new name thanks to a Billionaire... Here are the details.

According to an article from ABC 7 Chicago, The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago will now be officially called the Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, renamed after billionaire donor Kenneth C. Griffin.

In the article, they say "In 2019, the billionaire donated $125 million to the museum. Thanks to the gift, MSI will launch new exhibits and experiences, including the renovated Henry Crown Space Center, home to the SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft, and Griffin Studios." The article goes on to mention that in celebration of this historic renaming, the museum will offer free admission this coming weekend, for more details on the renaming, click here!

I mean...whatever

We Chicagoans/Illinoisans have played this song and dance before... Do some people call it the Willis Tower, sure, but it will always be the Sears Tower. Will anyone ACTUALLY take the time to call it the Kenneth C. Griffin Museum of Science and Industry, or will we all just keep calling it what it is, the Museum of Science and Industry? My guess is very few people will include the billionaire's name, and that's the way it should be. No offense to him, he is an Illinois guy and I love the Museum of Science and Industry with U505, but I can't imagine I'll ever call it by its new name, will you?
