A former state senator from Rushville has been picked to head-up the Illinois Department of Agriculture in 2019. Illinois Governor-Elect JB Pritzker and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Juliana Stratton have chosen John Sullivan to serve as the Illinois Department of Agriculture Director, when the new administration takes office in January.

Sullivan, a Democrat, represented the 47th District of Illinois in the state senate from 2003 to 2016. He also chaired the Senate Agriculture and Conservation Committee.

John Sullivan is also known for his involvement in his family’s auction business, specializing in farm machinery and real estate.
