Parts of Missouri especially in the central parts of the state were already suffering from extreme drought conditions, but now that's expanded to the northeast officially according to meteorologists at the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis shared this graphic just updated this week which shows many parts of northeast Missouri are now officially categorized under "extreme drought" conditions.

As they mentioned, some parts of northeast Missouri received some rain a few days ago, but the moisture was very spotty. There could be help on the way however as there is rain forecast for the northeastern part of Missouri this weekend.

It looks like the best chance for rainfall will begin later Saturday night in the Hannibal, Missouri area.
