I've never had a problem with stores that are considered expensive. If you don't have the money to shop there, then don't. Those that do likely have a good reason and that's probably what's happening with a grocery chain that was just named the most overpriced in America. It only has 4 very exquisite Missouri stores.

This relatively recent article by Delish called out the grocery store chains that have high prices based on data they're seeing. It probably isn't a compliment to me that I haven't heard of hardly any of the chains that made their "most overpriced" list. As a matter of fact, the only one I did recognize is the only one that has Missouri locations.

What is the "most overpriced" grocery chain in America that has Missouri stores?

Delish says (their words, not mine) that it's Whole Foods. They jokingly say that some call it "Whole Paycheck". That made me laugh. Thanks.

I also got a chuckle out of the Whole Foods Market video talking about "Code Green". Wonder if they're referring to the green presidents in your wallet? Just curious.

According to Whole Foods website, there are 4 Missouri places. 3 are in the St. Louis area and 1 is in Kansas City. For St. Louis, it's a Town and Country (a ritzy place itself), Galleria and Central West End. Kansas City has a location on East 51st Street.

Here's my takeaway on this "most overpriced" claim. Things cost what they cost. If you want to shop at an upscale store that sells upscale things (including food), you have to pay for it. I have no problem with Whole Foods or those that shop there. All power to you. As for me, I'll remain in the discount realm though, thanks.
