The Humane Society of Missouri sent their Animal Cruelty Task Force to Douglas County, Missouri which is located in the south-central part of the state southeast of Springfield. This was the scene that they discovered upon arrival.

The breeder had 43 Shiba Inus which the American Kennel Club describes as a "muscular dog many use for hunting". The dogs found at the breeder's home in Douglas County weren't in the shape for hunting assistance or anything productive as malnourishment was rampant according to their reports.

The Humane Society of Missouri says that while they rescued 43, they found the remains of 9 other dogs who didn't make it. Terrible.

The good news is these Shiba Inus will now have a second chance at life and will be available for adoption once they are nursed back to health.
