B-2 Bomber Damaged In-Flight, Made Emergency Landing in Missouri

The United States Air Force has announced there was an incident with a B2 Stealth Bomber this past weekend. It was damaged mid-flight and had to make an emergency landing in Missouri.

Whiteman Air Force Base announced the accident involving one of the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bombers stationed there in a press release. They said that the stealth bomber experienced "an in-flight malfunction during routine operations and was damaged on the runway at Whiteman Air Force Base after it successfully completed an emergency landing".

The good news is that no personnel were injured in the accident. It's not clear (and they're not saying) exactly what the malfunction was, but it happened in-flight and the damage incurred happened during the emergency landing. As of this writing, the Whiteman Air Force Base runway is closed as the Air Force conducts their investigation to determine what happened.

They state that there may be more information released after their investigation is complete.

It was announced a few months ago that Whiteman Air Force Base will also be home to the new super-secret B-21 Stealth Bomber that was just unveiled recently. The estimate is that the new stealth will be airborne at some point in 2023. There's no word on when these new planes might finally make their home at Whiteman Air Force Base like the B-2 Spirits have for years. Defense News said there are 6 B-21's currently involved in the testing phase.
