Which County in Missouri Hunted the MOST Deer this Season?

According to an article in Springfield News-Leader, Franklin County harvested the most deer during the 10-day Missouri Firearms portion of the 2023 Deer Hunting season, with 4,289 deer. Narrowly beating out Texas County with 4,208 and Howell County with 3,749. In the article, they say...

"Show-Me State hunters took 193,689 deer during the 10-day November firearms portion of deer season, according to preliminary Missouri Department of Conservation data. Of the deer taken Nov. 11-21, 105,614 were antlered bucks, 16,081 were button bucks and 71,974 were does...Deer hunting continues in Missouri this week (Nov. 22-26) in Chronic Wasting Disease Management Zone counties."

Franklin County is just south and west of St. Louis, with towns like Union, Washington, and Saint Clair. It makes sense that this county harvested the most deer because it is an area that is close for all the St. Louis area hunters to get to.

The numbers are staggering, 197,689 deer in 10 days... that is 19,000 plus deer a day! And the season is not over yet, there is still archery season that starts now and goes into the new year. So many deer...

According to our friends at WGEM here locally in the Hannibal area of northeast Missouri, the most deer harvested were in Monroe County with 3,236 followed by Ralls County with 2,226, and Clark County with 2,176. They go on to mention how this year's total deer harvested was three percent lower than last year's harvest but the numbers are still up compared to the past five-year average.
