Looking for a New Bank? Missouri Has 5 of the Best in the Nation
If you're looking for a new bank to put all your hard-earned money in, check out one of these five Missouri banks just named on Forbes' Best Banks of America list.
When it comes to finding the best of the best I am always a little leary on these lists, but when it comes from a reputable magazine like Forbes I can honestly say I trust this list. Recently, the business magazine released a list of the best of the best when it comes to banks in every state, and Missouri lands on the list five times.
- Nodaway Valley Bank - Maryville
- Central Bancompany - Jefferson City
- First State Community Bank - Farmington
- Commerce Bancshares - Kansas City
- UMB - Kansas City
How Did Forbes Come Up with Their List?
Google, of course. Oh, and working with one of the top market research firms Statista.
Participants were asked to name all the banks and credit unions where they have a checking or savings account and evaluate these institutions based on criteria such as customer service, the quality of the financial advice representatives offer and whether fees are transparent and reasonable.
The oldest bank on the top list for Missouri is Nodaway (where I used to bank when I was in college). The bank has been open since 1868 and currently employs 170 people. I love small-town banks, where everyone knows your name. There is just something about getting service from people who take the time to help if there is an emergency, make sure your money is secure, and support local anything (sports,m schools, etc.)
A total of 164 awards were given to 137 unique banks across all U.S. states.
