Illinois Sex Offender Charged With Soliciting Girls on Facebook
A convicted sex offender is being held on $1 million bond on charges that he solicited children on Facebook and distributed child pornography.
The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports that 37-year-old Eric Hakala of Naperville appeared in DuPage County court on Thursday.
Prosecutors say he communicated with girls by setting up a Facebook account in the name of a fictitious high school student.
Hakala allegedly solicited sex from two girls, but authorities say there could be more victims.
Prosecutors say one victim went to police after Hakala admitted he was “much older.” Investigators monitored texts, calls and Facebook messages from Hakala. He allegedly sent an explicit photo of himself and asked to meet at a movie theater.
Hakala was convicted in 2001 of indecent solicitation of a child.
