Illinois Serial Rapist on the Run for 24 Years Nabbed in Missouri
The Illinois State Police have been after this man for decades. He's an alleged serial rapist who's flight from the law is over as US Marshalls just captured him in Missouri.
According to the US Marshals bulletin just shared today, Herman Carroll, 72, was wanted for allegedly doing some very bad things including: Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, Criminal Sexual Assault, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, and Criminal Sexual Assault.
Herman Carroll was sought after he failed to appear in court after posting bail after he was arrested July 3, 2000, for sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl. For the record, they say that he had been convicted of previous child sex offenses dating back to 1983 and 1993.
According to the US Marshals, they learned that Herman Carroll might be living in Branson, Missouri on May 8, 2024 and captured him 3 days later.
The list of law enforcement agencies that assisted in Herman Carroll's capture is mammoth and include Central District of Illinois U.S. Attorney’s Office, Moultrie County State’s Attorney’s Office, Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office, Moultrie County Sheriff’s Department, Stone County (Missouri) Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Department of Corrections, MWVFTF, Branson Police Department, Illinois Statewide Terrorism and Intelligence Center, Missouri FUSION Center, USMS Eastern District of Texas, USMS District of Alaska, USMS Western District of Arkansas, and the USMS District of Maryland.
The Illinois State Police file on Herman Carroll shows him as a previous resident of Peoria, Illinois. According to the report, he is being detained in the Taney County Jail, Missouri awaiting extradition.
