Missouri to Be Impacted By a Hurricane at the End of the Week?

The following is a fact that seems unbelievable. There's a good chance that Missouri will be impacted by a hurricane by the end of the week, but it's going to be fine.

There's a new tropical cyclone system in the Gulf of Mexico as of this writing named appropriately enough "Tropical Cyclone Six". NOAA's National Hurricane Center has some interesting forecasts and models for what this tropical cyclone system will become. The weather experts at NOAA say this will become a tropical storm Monday as it moves into the Gulf of Mexico.

By Wednesday morning, the storm is expected to strengthen to hurricane strength before it reaches Texas. If that happens, it will be Hurricane Francine. That's when this storm gets interesting. The forecast cone right now says that Hurricane Francine (assuming it does get strong enough to be categorized as a hurricane) will eventually make its way through Louisiana where it's expected to make landfall then through Arkansas. Missouri is next.

Note that by the time the remnants of Hurricane Francine makes its way to Missouri, it will be nothing more than a tropical depression, but that should bring much-needed moisture to Missouri at least.

The National Weather Service even makes mention of the expected hurricane when they discuss moisture possibilities at the end of the week.

It's actually not unusual for a hurricane to affect Missouri. Is it possible a storm could be so strong that it would maintain hurricane strength this far north? Not likely and if it ever happens, I don't want to be around to witness it.
