I know I am not the only one who has been glued to my tv and news websites following the updates about the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. I have felt so compelled to find ways to show love, and support to the people of Ukraine beyond just posting on social media. So here are some ways I have found that you can show support here in Illinois.

If you didn't know Chicago is home to many neighborhoods one of them is the Ukrainian Village it is located on the northwest side of Chicago (here is a picture for reference).

And the great website Thrillist.com put together a list of some must-visit places in the Ukrainian Village, to see the list click here! Some of the things that they included are restaurants like Tryzub Ukrainian Kitchen, along with the Delta Gift Shop dedicated to importing traditional Ukrainian items, and of course the Ukrainian Institue of Modern Art.

According to wikipedia.org Illinois has the 6th highest Ukrainian population of any state in the country, and 4% of Chicagoans were born in Ukraine. And if you want to find a way to directly show support to Ukrainians there is a Chicago based company called Meest-Karpaty which specializes in shipping to eastern Europe is organizing donations to take to Ukraine directly and you can learn more about that and donate by checking out the Rolling Stone article and clicking here!
