Hannibal Riverfront Improvement Open House Wednesday

The public gets its first look at proposals for improvements to Hannibal’s riverfront Wednesday.

An open house is planned from 5 to 7 p.m. at Homebank on McMasters Avenue.

Officials with the city of Hannibal, Hannibal Parks and Recreation and Klingner and Associates have put together a wish list that the public will get to look over and comment on during the open house.

In previous public statements, officials have pointed to the need for improvements in the riverfront area, including parking lots, the marina and the riverboat docking area, along with items ranging from public boat ramps and parks to bathrooms and landscaping.

City officials project that construction would begin on riverfront improvements in late 2017.
