The Hannibal City Council is making plans for the 2020 river cruise ship season.

At its regular meeting Tuesday, the council approved a five-year riverfront/riverboat docking lease agreement with American Cruise Lines.

In exchange for docking space on the Hannibal riverfront, American will pay the city one dollar per passenger per visit, with the payment to increase each year until it gets to two dollars.

The Mississippi River cruises by American Cruise Lines features the ships American Song, America and Queen of the Mississippi.

The city expects to have its riverfront renovation project completed by the time the cruise ship season begins about mid-summer of 2020.
