Hannibal City Council Approves Deal With Survival Flight
(Hannibal)—The Hannibal City Council voted last night to lease airport space to Survival Flight, Inc. The resolution allows the company to establish an air ambulance base in Hannibal. Officials say 8 or 9 good paying jobs will be created as a result of the agreement.
The council also gave two bills regarding recycling a second and final reading. One of those bills will allow voters to decide a proposal seeking to raise the recycling fee added to utility bills to $1.90 a month from the current 70 cents. The issue will appear on the November municipal ballot.
The council also gave initial approval to a MODOT proposal regarding future changes to the Mark Twain Avenue area. Part of the plan would involve reducing traffic lanes from 5 to 3, adding bike lanes, and making landscaping improvements.
